The New York Times - Times Reader is an RSS feed reader. The application allows you to connect to the newspaper's subscription service and read content that is published daily on the website. Unlike other news applications, Times Reader will only connect to the New York times. There is a 7 day retention for feeds. You can also sync the content to your PC so that you can browse the content offline. That is really good, since you can be on the go and download the content from a wi-fi hotspot and then read it on the train or bus, etc. The application is free. However, the free service only gives you some headlines, tech news and popular news. There is a paid subscription service that gives you everything on the New York Times, even Puzzles and Crosswords, but you have to pay for that. Times Reader allows you to customize the way in which you read the content and it is especially easy to configure the reader to show the content in a way that fits the whole screen, so that you don't have to zoom in or out or even scroll. The application is really great, but any news reader could probably do the job. |
